Baja Sharkeez

Baja Sharkeez Mesquite-Mex Broiler
(Huntington Beach, CA)

Looking for some tacos to eat on a tuesday night? Go out and eat at Sharkeez! This is a great spot to eat great tacos anytime of day. Their crispy chicken tacos with bacon strips are delicious! There is a variety of tacos here for your tastebuds! Even if you are not a huge seafood lover, they sell burritos, burgers, fajitas, and BBQ plates too. Along with eating great tacos, this places has televisions all around and a patio to watch your favorite sports games. The atmosphere gets you in the mood to dance as well. You can even reserve your birthday parties! On some weekends, Sharkeez hosts parties at night. Their locations are mostly right by the beach. I highly suggest to go and eat here at least once in your life. The tacos are made more mexican tradition then other places like Del Taco or Taco Bell. Its more authentic and homely. The prices are really fair. You can't pay for good tacos at a very low prices thats for sure.

King Taco

The King Taco Restaurants

With over 20 locations all over the Los Angeles area, King Taco has set new standards for the Mexican food industry. Founded in 1974, King Taco started selling their delicious food out of a truck where there it became a crowd favorite. I have got to say, whenever I am craving delicious Mexican dishes I know my stomach will lead me to King Taco. Without a doubt, this is definitely one of my favorite spots to eat. Although King Taco is located around a city that offers them a lot of competition from other spots, they do not succumb to the pressure. This restaurant is known for their fresh ingredients and consistent quality. On that note, I have to admit I have never walked out of the restaurant without my taste buds satisfied.

Mayor Villaraigosa and Sen. Hillary Clinton enjoying their dish.
I do warn however, once someone tries their delicious dishes they usually will never be satisfied with other spots. King Taco has the usual Mexican food including burritos, tacos, sopes, quesadillas, nachos, etc. My usual order consists of a carne asada burrito and sope, let's not forget the spicy sauce that everyone loves to pile on top of their dish. The meat that King Taco uses is very tasteful and full of flavor, never tasting dull or bland. It seems like every bite is juicy and full of flavor until the very end. Every person that walks in there has their own favorite dish, it seems to me that anything ordered there would be quite delicious.

With that, every great restaurant also has it's set of flaws. For example, the only things people usually complain about is the wait time and the service. On a late Friday or Saturday night, be ready to wait a while before getting any food. Although the wait time is very long, the restaurant is not always to blame due to the high volume of customers which ultimately leads to the long wait time. Next, the service is usually complained about because many of the workers usually only speak spanish to customers and lack english fluency. Also, many say that their portions have definitely took a toll while their prices seem to keep going up. In reality it's basic economics, the food here is so good that it doesn't need to compete with the competitor's price.

In the end, all the complainers usually walk out pretty satisfied once they have enjoyed their delicious meal. Therefore, King Taco is definitely the place to be when craving some authentic Mexican dishes.

Uncle Tim's Thai House

Uncle Tim's Thai House

327 N Azusa Ave
West Covina, CA 91791
(626)339-5599

Uncle Tim's Thai House is a perfect example of a delicious family owned restaurant that everyone in the community enjoys. The owner actually started the business after many years of saving up money while working as a waiter at another Thai restaurant. At first I was hesitant to try this new place because I already considered myself to be a loyal customer to another Thai House within the city and I always found a reason not to go. After constantly hearing many people on different occasions about how delicious every dish was at Uncle Tim's I decided to try it once in for all.

When first entering the Thai House I noticed that although it was a simple family owned restaurant, the decor really tied in with their culture and their business. For example, some of the tables look like they are all made of ceramic, colorful material in which each table is made unique. They also have a big beautiful fish tank that just captures the essence of their culture. Their decor stood out to me because unlike many other restaurants, Uncle Tim's actually puts the time in to appeal to the eye of their customers while incorporating their culture to their business.

Also, when first entering we automatically noticed how great their customer service is, especially since they let you pick where you would like to sit. The menu has many different choices, in fact the waitress had to come back 3 times before I was able to make my choice. In the end I went with the basics (trying to be safe), shrimp fried rice and the vegetable chow mein plates. Having gone to other Thai houses before, I didn't get too many platters since many times before the bill was outrageously expensive. The food was so fresh, the broccoli tasted as if it had just been picked and cooked at that moment. The shrimp was big, tasty and fresh as well. It is obvious that the cooks make sure that you don't go home hungry, since they like to stack up every plate to the very top.  Overall, I have to say this was the best Thai food I had ever tasted even more so when I received the bill.

The whole meal for two, with excess food to take home, was a total of $16. I was completely surprised to see the total due to previous experiences with other Thai houses that MORE than DOUBLED Uncle Tim's price! The staff, the food, and the decor was great. I now found myself a new favorite spot and I am sure to leave a great tip before leaving pleasantly stuffed. My only regret was not ordering more; Now, I am determined to go back and try their customer favorite plates that I was too hesitant to try before.

Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme

Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme

Over the years TacoBell has been expanding their menu with new and unique food items. In 1962 the first original Crunchy Taco was invented. Later in 1999 they introduced the delicious Chalupa Supreme. Now in 2012 TacoBell has launched something totally different. It is the New Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme.

This week I decided to try the Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme. This taco comes with premium seasoned beef, reduced-fat sour cream, fresh crisp lettuce, real cheddar cheese and diced ripe tomatoes all in a delicious tacoshell made from Nacho Cheese Doritos Chips. When I took the first bite I was able to taste the delicious nacho cheese flavor. It definately tasted like doritos! If you like doritos as much as I do you should definately try this new taco. I would recommend it. I would also recommend the Regular Doritos Locos Tacos to anyone who does not like sour cream or tomatoes since it only comes with seasoned beef, crisp lettuce and cheddar cheese.

Unlike, the Original Crunchy Tcao that is only $0.99 the Regular Doritos Locos Tacos is a bit more expensive since it cost $1.49 and the Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme is $1.69. As you can see these doritos tacos are more expensive compare to the original ones that are made out of a crunchy corn tortilla.

If you think you need a better deal than just a taco for $1.69 then you should try the Doritos Locos Tacos Box. This lunch box comes with a Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme, a burrito supreme, a crunchy taco, and a refreashing medium drink all for just $5.00. That's right for $5.00 you can get a complete and satisfying meal! You can also convert your fountain drink into a 16oz Frutista Freeze or Limeade Sparkler for just $0.30 or a 20oz for only $0.60 more. If you decide to change your drink into a Frutista Freeze you can choose from the New Berry Pomegranete, Strawberry, and Mango Strawberry all topped with real strawberries. For those of you who are wondering what a Limeade Sparkler is, it is a refreashing mix of lemon-lime soda combined with real lime or cherry flavor juice served with ice and garnished with a lime wedge.

If you are a person who enjoys having a desert after your meal then don't forget TacoBell offers tasty and economical deserts. For $0.89 you can grab yourself an order of crispy Cinnamon Twist sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. You can also choose to grab a Caramel Apple Empanada as your desert for only $0.99. TacoBell's empanadas are filled with chunks of warn apples in sweet caramel sauce.

TacoBell is definately a good and economical place to eat!
